Sheet metal parts processing is very important in the machinery industry. Today, the editor will explain in detail the processing methods of sheet metal parts. The surface treatment of sheet metal parts is also a very important part of the sheet metal processing process, as it has the functions of preventing parts from rusting and beautifying the appearance of products. The main function of surface pretreatment for sheet metal parts is to remove oil stains, oxide scale, rust, etc. It prepares for surface post-treatment, which mainly includes painting (baking), powder coating and anti-rust coating, etc

Zhengda Chuangxing Machinery shares with you the authentic precision sheet metal processing technology flow as follows;

1. Design and draw the part drawing of its sheet metal parts. The purpose is to express the structure of its sheet metal parts in the form of drawings.

2. Draw the development diagram, that is, unfold a structurally complex part into a flat plate.

3. Material cutting: There are many ways to cut materials, mainly including the following methods:

a. Shearing machine cutting: Use the shearing machine to cut out the external dimensions of the length and width of the development drawing. If there is punching or beveling, then transfer the punch press in combination with the die for punching and beveling to form the shape. Cut out the structural shape of its flat part on an iron plate.

4. Flanging and tapping Flanging, also known as hole tapping, involves drawing a slightly larger hole from a smaller base hole and then tapping on the hole. Doing so can increase its strength and prevent teeth from slipping. It is generally used in sheet metal processing where the plate thickness is relatively thin. When the plate thickness is relatively large, such as 2.0, 2.5 and above.

5. Punch press processing; Generally, the processing methods of punch presses include punching and corner cutting, punching and blanking, punching and bulging, punching and tearing, and hole drawing, etc., to achieve the processing purpose. Its processing requires corresponding molds to complete the operation. For punch punching, there are punch dies; for tear punching, there are tear forming dies, etc.

6. Riveting: Commonly used riveting tools include riveting studs, riveting nuts, and riveting screws, etc. The riveting operation is generally carried out by a punch press or a hydraulic riveting machine to rivet them onto sheet metal parts.

7. Bending: Bending is the process of converting a 2D flat part into a 3D component. Its processing requires a folding machine and corresponding bending dies to complete the operation. It also has a certain bending sequence. The principle is to bend the parts that do not interfere with the next cut first, and bend the parts that will interfere later.

8. Welding: Welding involves joining multiple parts together to achieve processing purposes or welding the edges of individual parts to enhance their strength. Its processing methods generally include CO2 gas shielded welding, argon arc welding, spot welding, robot welding, etc. The selection of these welding methods is determined based on actual requirements and materials.
